What is Doral Bank Direct?

Doral Bank Direct is an online banking product provided by Doral Bank, FSB (Doral Bank).  Doral Bank is a wholly owned subsidiary of Doral Financial Corporation (NYSE:DRL), a diversified financial holding company with banking operations in the United States and Puerto Rico. 

Doral Bank initiated operations in New York in 1999 as a FDIC-insured, federal savings bank emphasizing on bringing financial services to underserved communities, including the growing Hispanic community, currently the nation's largest minority.

Is my money FDIC insured?

Yes, your deposits are FDIC insured up to the maximum allowed by law through Doral Bank. 

The FDIC insures deposit accounts such as checking, NOW, savings, money market, and certificates of deposit (CD’s) accounts.  The basic insurance amount is $100,000 per depositor per insured bank.  You may qualify for more than $100,000 in coverage if you own deposit accounts in different ownership categories.  For information visit the FDIC’s website: www.fdic.gov.

Where do I do my banking?

Doral Bank Direct is an online bank.  You are able to manage your accounts anywhere the Internet is accessible.

How do I open an account and what is required?

Accounts can be opened online or by mail.

To open an account with Doral Bank Direct you will need:

  • To be 18 years of age or older;
  • To be either a U.S. citizen or a resident alien;
  • A U.S. address and Social Security Number;
  • A driver’s license, state ID, or Federal ID;
  • Personal information including your date of birth and your place of birth; and
  • A valid email address.

What happens after I submit my application?
  • We review your application and verify your identity.
  • Once your identity has been verified, two (2) small trial deposits will be credited to your checking account.
  • We will email you at the email address you provide.  This email will include detailed instructions on Doral Bank Direct’s verification process and requires action within 30 calendar days of receipt.
  • Once ownership of the funding account has been verified, your initial deposit will be processed and your account will be opened.

How do I know when my account is open?

Once you complete the account validation process of your Doral Bank Direct account, you will receive a confirmation email from Doral Bank Direct telling you when your account is operational and ready for additional transactions.

Will I receive an account statement?

Monthly statements for all savings accounts will be sent out within 3 business days of each calendar month end for the prior month’s activity.

How do I make a deposit?

After your initial deposit, you can make deposits the following ways:

  • Set up Direct Deposit with your employer.
  • Transfer money from a linked account.
  • Send money from an unlinked account via wire transfer. Our ABA # is 026073082.
  • Send your deposit by mail. Check (s) must be payable to the account holder. On the back of the check write "For Deposit Only" and your Doral Bank Direct account number. Mail the deposit to:

            No cash deposits will be accepted.

How do I make withdrawals?

You can access your money several ways:

  • Electronically transfer funds to any linked account.
  • Request that we mail you a check.

Are there limits to the number of saving account withdrawals or deposits?

The number of withdrawals in each savings account is limited to six per calendar month. There is no limit to the number of deposits.

Can I open an account with a joint account holder?

Yes, you can add a joint account holder while you are completing the application. You will need the address, social security number, date of birth, place of birth, and identification information of the co-applicant.

Can I open an account with a beneficiary?

Yes, you can assign a beneficiary while you are completing the application. You will need the name, address, phone number, social security number, and date of birth of the beneficiary.

How do I know my account is secure?

Doral Bank Direct offers Internet banking and bill payment services utilizing solid security standards. These security standards have received ICSA Trusecure Certification and are re-assessed on a quarterly basis. Delivering these services require a robust security framework that protects you and our institution's data from outside intrusion. The secure network topology was devised by a third-party Internet specialist and all changes require formal written approval. We are committed to working with our Internet service and communications providers to produce the safest operating environment possible for our customers.
